Hey everyone! Excuse the bed hair – lol. My sister helped me shoot these photos below on Chinese New Year few Sundays ago and I could not wash my hair that day, which I typically do everyday. Let me explain why. I am not a very superstitious person, but for some reason, certain things that would typically be done on CNY seemed to have stuck with me. Those things included not washing my hair or vacuuming the house on the day as to not “wash” away or “sweep” the good luck away, so you can start the new year right.

Crazy, I know, but hey, if I could do that only once a year and have a little more good luck tucked away for the year, why not, right?. I’ve also heard that you shouldn’t visit someone’s house on that day either. I don’t know – those who celebrate CNY, have you done or heard of something that you typically try to do on CNY?

Anywho, so this outfit below I just realized as I am typing this that I subconsciously brought in the colors Red and “Gold” (or in this case, golden yellow) into the mix – the two lucky colors for CNY. Red means good luck, happiness, and joy and the color red symbolizes the Fire element in Chinese metaphysics which gives energy. The color Gold symbolizes wealth as well as happiness. So, in the spirit of this outfit post, I wish you all a very happy, prosperous and lots of fortune for year of the Snake.
