Revlon's Colorburst Lip Butters Review

If you follow me on twitter, you would know that I've been looking for these Revlon's Colorburst Lip Butters for a few weeks now, but they seem to elude me each and every time I step into a store. I've been to at least three CVS's, two Rite-Aid's and one Target, (Walgreens is scarce where I live) and finally gave up, until recently. A twitter follower tweeted me last week saying she found some at her store and wanted to send me her dupes. She sent me the colors Strawberry Shortcake, Sugar Frosting and Cotton Candy, which you can see below. That was so sweet of her and I was seriously touched! Thanks so much from bottom of my heart, Winnie!!

These lip butters are definitely moisturizing and smooth when applied. They are definitely more like moisturizing lipsticks versus lipbalms for sure, so if you want something of a lip balm, these wouldn't be it. They sort of remind me like the Elf's Studio Conditioning Lip Balm but with a little more pigmentation.

While I'm in San Francisco for Thanksgiving weekend until Tuesday, I brought along with me Strawberry Shortcake and Cotton Candy since those are my fave colors thus far. I did not prefer Sugar Frosting unfortunately, which makes me look a bit dead. Anyways while at my sister-in-law's place, I needed to go to a CVS to get some toothpaste deal and decided to venture over to the makeup section to see if I could find any more of the lip butters. Lo and behold, they were sitting right on the shelves with most of the colors nearly gone. These below were the ones that I was able to snag and fortunately there was a BOGO for 50% off second - awesome! Each of them are retailed at $7.99 at the store.

Swatches are for the lip butters above minus Sugar Frosting

Final Verdict:

I would repurchase these lip butters again, because they feel moisturizing on the lips. They are more sheer than a lipstick, but more pigmented than a lip balm. I would make sure you exfoliate the lips more often, because some of the lighter colors do settle into the lines a bit. My fave so far would be Cotton Candy and Tutti Frutti. For bolder colors, I love Red Velvet and Lollipop. Cherry Tart really reminds me more of MAC's Viva Glam Cyndi, which is more of a light red. Red Velvet is a little more of a wine red. After seeing the Revlon's website, there is still one color that I want to try and that is Peach Parfait. I've always been a sucker for anything Peach. =P

So what about you ladies?
Have you tried the lip butters and which are your fave so far?

I got a blogging buddy who offered to send me a Revlon Lip Butter and I can't wait to see it. Since it's so hard to get, I gave her a long list so let's see what she can get for me. Love the look of red velvet and cotton candy!
