I haven't done too many tags lately out of laziness (ha) but this Color Tag, tagged by the lovely Jen , was not your normal questionnaire tag. Here, you list items that you have in the color chosen by your Tagger and for this particular one, that would be green. Since I'm a girl who loves all colors of the rainbow, it definitely wasn't too hard to find something in green - hehe. In fact, I found a little more than enough so I lumped together some of them in the pics. =P

1.

First off, why wouldn't I have nail polishes in green? haha. That would be China Glaze Kaleidoscope Collection nail polish in He's Going in Circles and Essie's nail polish in Mint Candy Apple (the prettiest mint color you ever see on nail polishes)

2.

Both necklaces from F21 (where else? =P)

3.

I've actually had this bracelet since high school I believe and always kept it. I probably just got it off some vendor in chinatown - hehe.

4.

Same with these pouches. As you can see, I've used them quite a bit from jewelry holders to coin purses to card holders. I've stored them away since but always seem to keep them handy in case I need to use them later. =D

5.

Of course, who can forget La Mer products stored in these lovely green boxes which are pretty sturdy to hold anything else. I tend to keep nice boxes around in case I need them for something else - hehe.

6.

We actually bought these mangoes 2 weekends ago but were still too green to eat so they came in perfectly for this tag. hehe - mmm, I could eat mangoes all day if they weren't so expensive to buy all the time. =P

7.

Lastly, me attempting to model my OOTD last friday. I'm wearing my mint green top with bow detail tie in front from Zipia over F21 skinny jeans & nine west heeled boots.

So that's my 7 items in green. Now I tag the following 7 ppl below with the color Peach!

1. Songling
2. Ilyana
3. Tiffany
4. Fuz
5. Catherine
6. Jess
7. Jamilla

Fun! Can't wait to see what you girls came up with - hehe. Enjoy! =)

This year I was able to participate in not 1 but 2 Secret Santas - one thru Kay and the other thru Pam - thank you girls for putting it together! I couldn't wait to see who my secret santa was!

My 1st Secret Santa through Kay was Songling! She's such a sweetheart to send me whole bunch of masks, makeup and a pair of earrings that she made. Her package actually arrived today, which I was a bit nervous last week when my SS package through Pam arrived earlier. Darn the postal service for delaying the package but anywho, it came safe and sound!

One of the makeup didn't come so safely though but at least majority was good. Darn you PO! Overall, loved everything. Thank you Songling! =)

My 2nd Secret Santa through Pam's was Ilyana! She was so genergous including so many masks from Silk Whitia, so much goodies as well as a nice bracelet to add to my collection. Thanks girly! Can you believe that Elfster randomly draw us as each other's SS?! I thought that was ironic, hehe, but glad that I was able to get to know another blogger. =)

I started snacking on one of the goodies in Hubby's taz slippers while waiting for him to come home from work. hehe.

So glad I participated in these because it was so much fun and always a surprise to see who my secret santa was. Thank you so much ladies to have hosted.

One other gift arrived today and they were from lovely PuppieLuv913
We were going to collaborate on some jewelry for charity but unfortunately life became too hectic so it's been tabled. However, she was so sweet to have sent me jewelries anyways and they are just gorgeous!

Please check out her jewelry site if you like what you see. =) Thank you girly! I can't wait to wear them! You definitely didn't have to - they are definitely much prettier in person! I feel so loved. =D Anyways, I hoped everyone had a great holiday and now it's time to gear up for New Year's Eve!! =D You ready?? Read more!

Someone had asked me how I organized my jewelry so here's a video for that. haha.. I sound like the iPhone commercial, "there's an app for that" Anywho, my necklaces have been organized for a few months now on a hanger that I forget where I bought. I organized the earrings few days ago by using a scarf from my bridal shower 2 yrs ago and had a whole bunch leftover.

Enjoy!

So I will be heading up to Philly tomorrow for Christmas holiday till Sunday. Asians don't normally celebrate Christmas and we are not religious in any way, but my dad always put up a tree every christmas with the lights trimming the house and the lighted reindeers decorating the lawn. Being anal, or should I say a perfectionist as he is =P, the lights always have to face inward and straight which we get a kick out of it every year. haha!

Also over the years, we did adopt the traditional gift-giving and family time around the tree and at first, it was awkward since we were never the affectionate type, but it soon became more fun and silly as each Christmas passed. I don't doubt that this year will be any less. =) Anyways, I hope you all have a wonderful holiday, eat well and stay warm!

Lots of Love,
Melanie

I'm on a roll today - filmed 6 videos - 3 of which are for holidays. =D Now I just have to edit them all - haha. The second makeup tutorial for the holidays is gold at the top and silver for the bottom eyes. I was all set to do this makeup with other products but then remembered that I wanted to do a drugstore makeup tutorial as well so I combined the two video into one. What better way to show that you can achieve a glamorous look by the products in your nearest CVS or Walgreens or whatever drugstore you're near by. =)

I do feel bad though, but will be sending them a gift so hopefully that will make up for it. =) Instead, I stayed home most of today and probably tomorrow as well to film some tutorials. Ever have problems with UDPP drying out when depotting? I've had my tube for the longest time, because I was afraid to depot it and have the primer dry out on me. One of my subscribers brought to my attention that EnKore had a tip on this who got it from Brittany (ClumpsofMascara). Sharing is caring right?? hehee.. It seems you just need to find the right container to prevent that from happening.

Supplies:

Empty Twist Pens - $1.95
https://www.starsmakeuphaven.com/prod...
Spatula (included in some skincare lines)
knife

I was able to fill two containers and the tube was pretty empty but still had a good chunk of primer left. Try this method and see how it works for you. Enjoy! =)

Tang Yuan (mandarin) or Tong Yun (cantonese) is a dish of glutinous rice balls served in a sweet broth. In Southeast Asia Chinese culture, it is traditionally served on Dong Zhi or known as winter solstice. This is the time when winter is welcomed by eating tong yun. My favorite is made with peanut filling inside and since Mother-in-Law (MIL)has come to stay with us for the past few days until Sat, I've been trying to soak up every recipe I can before she leaves. =P The first one being tong yun. I was busy writing down the recipe and taking pics, so really didn't help much except the end when it's time to fill the dough. MIL did the bulk of the work. =D

Don't let this pic fool you. I ate 2 b/4 I remembered to take a pic! hehe

First start off with a bag of glutinous flour, which you can find in any asian market, and 1 3/4 cup of boiled water.

Then start adding 1 cup of boiled water, mix by hand and then the last 3/4 cup, add a little at a time so that you get the right consistency of the dough. Be careful not to burn your hands since the water is very hot. If you want, you can try wearing rubber gloves to help with the mixing. The dough should look like this when done. Sprinkle a bit of flour over the dough and pat around, then let sit with moist towel over bowl while you do the fillings.

Now you can actually have whatever fillings you like for the inside of tong yun. I've seen them being filled by red beans, black sesame seeds and in this case, peanuts.

If you want a creamier texture, you can always just use peanut butter as the filling and skip this step. If you want to have crunchier texture, continue on to make the filling. =)

Pour handful of peanuts in pan to toast over stove on medium. After few minutes, turn to low. Continue to toss peanuts in pan until toasted.

Now peel off the skins on the peanuts, put in blender and pulse till blended.

Next sprinkle about 2 T of sesame seeds, 2T of peanut butter and 1T of flour over the blended peanuts and mix by hand.

Now sprinkle a bit of flour over plate and uncover dough bowl.  Grad a piece of the dough and mold it lengthwise then start forming little dough balls around the edge.

Next, roll the dough into a ball shape, flatten it with your fingers and then add peanut filling to center. Bring all the edges up and close the ends together and roll into ball shape. Try squeezing gently to make sure no air is inside and roll again.

It should look like first pic below. Repeat process till you have a whole bunch of them to place on floured pan.

Now for cooking them, boil some water with ginger in it and place the desired amount of tong yun that you want to eat. Once cooked which should only be a few minutes (like 5 or so) or until the tong yun starts to rise to the surface. Add desired amount of sugar to the pot, for me that's like 3 TB. =P Now it's done and ready to serve.

You can freeze the rest and when ready, just cook the same way frozen but timed it for about 9 mins or so and should be ready to eat. Enjoy! =)
