Panko Oven-Baked Fried Chicken Legs

So since my zumba toning class got canceled tonight without any notice to me and a few other girls, I had some time on my hands so I decided to do a cooking entry. =)

You'll need the following products:

Panko crumbs
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
6 chicken legs
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
Fill the ziploc bag with all the spices. The original recipe called for two spices I didn't have which I excluded as well as using oats. I wouldn't be Asian if I didn't replace the oats with Panko crumbs instead. It's healthier & crispier too. =)

I make slice marks on the thickest part of the leg to make baking it easier. They'll cook through alot faster.

Then place the mustard into a bowl and brush over the chicken legs.

Now place the leg individually into the bag of crumb spices and gently shake it to cover the legs thoroughly.

I cover the pan with aluminum foil so it makes cleaning faster for me. Then place the legs on top of the foil.
Place into pre-heated oven of 400 degrees and bake it for 40 mins.

After that's done, you have a nice plate of yummy oven-baked chicken legs that smells so good. I'm thinking you're hoping to have smell-a-vision right about now huh? Bon Appetit! =)

yummo!! Your spicy jar look really cool, how does it work? I noticed last time that it's got a dial on it with 1/4 tsp or whatnot labels, can you move the level to get premeasured amounts out?

OOOOh! I do the same thing with chicken breasts...it's like a low cal Chicken Katsu. My other half loves this recipe!

If you have never tried matzo meal (it's Jewish) it also makes a fantastic bake/fry coating too.

Another coating I use is semolina...it creates a fine crunchy finish, and is very delicate.

YUMMMM! Thanks for the food porn!
